How to play
The Basics
Hoard Hunter is a very simple game to play. The map is split up into 100 equally sized sectors. One of these sectors holds the 2Gb iPod Shuffle. In order to have a chance of winning the iPod Shuffle you can claim one or more sectors by making a donation to charity (via the Hoard Hunter system) for each sector you want.
The actual sector which has the prize will be picked at random after the game is completed, so whilst the game is in play, NO ONE knows which sector is the winning one.
Choosing a sector
The details of each sector can be seen by clicking within the sectors boundaries.
Reserved sectors have a question mark on them. These sectors are in the process of being claimed by another person. If the other person does not complete the claiming process then the sector will become available again in 24 hours.

If you click on a Reserved sector you will see the reserved message. You may also see this message is you click on a sector without a question mark, but which has been reserved since you loaded the map.

Claimed sectors have either an X on them or the Gravatar of the person who has claimed that sector.

If you click on a claimed sector you will see the details of the person who has claimed that sector, as well as a link to their website if they decided to release their details. When you claim a sector you can decide to remain anonymous.

Available sectors are clear and only show the map details for that sector. Clicking on an available sector will display the sectors details.

Once you have examined the details of your chosen sector you can claim it by clicking on the Claim sector link in the bottom right hand corner. This will take you to the registration page.

Entering your details
When you have chosen your sector you will be asked to enter your details on the registration form. You need to register so that we can contact you if you win the game. If you do not want your details shown on the Hoard Hunter board then you can elect to remain anonymous when you register.

If you have already claimed another sector, then your details will already by stored. In this case you can login using the form on the right hand side of this page, rather than registering again.

Completing your claim
The final step is to complete your claim by sending through your payment. There are two methods available to send your payment. PayPal is the simplest (and most integrated) method. To use PayPal simply click on the Donate button on the left hand side of the form and enter your details into the PayPal check out form.
We will cover all PayPal charges, so you can be assured that your entire PayPal payment will be donated to the charity.

If you do not like PayPal then you can use our Justgiving.com donation page. This method is a little more convoluted but is handy for UK residents. To use Justgiving.com, please ensure that you follow the steps on the payment page. This enables us to manually match your donation to your claim (we will aim to confirm your donation within 24 hours, your sector will remain reserved for that length of time). If you are a UK tax payer then you are given the option to add Gift Aid to your donation. Do not select this option, as this game is not eligible for Gift Aid.

Completing the game
When all the sectors have been claimed, or the finishing date has been reached, a sector will be picked at random and the owner of that sector contacted to receive their prize.
We will provide more details on the random picking process closer to the end of the game.
